Railway issued instructions for labor special trains, told who will be able to travel
As per the guidelines issued by the Home Ministry, it has been decided to run a ‘Shramik Special’ train to take migrant laborers and students stranded at various places due to lockdown.
New Delhi : Amid growing cases of Coronavirus infection, the central government has directed special trains for migrant laborers stranded in other states to take them to the home state before extending the lockdown 3.0. The special trains run by the railways were named as ‘Shramik Special’. These trains are being run only for migrant laborers, who want to go to their home state due to lockdown.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had issued an order to allow movement of migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at various places across the country by special trains run by the Ministry of Railways. The Railway Ministry has appointed nodal officers to coordinate with the States / Union Territories to ensure the movement of these people.
Apart from this, the Ministry of Railways has sold tickets; Detailed guidelines were also issued for ensuring social distancing and other safety measures at railway stations and railway platforms. After this people started arriving at the stations. The railway has issued an appeal in this regard.
As of 17 May, all Mail / Express / Suburban etc. passenger trains are canceled. Special trains for workers, students, pilgrims, who have stayed at various places, etc., will be planned for the people registered / nominated by them only on the request of the State Governments. According to standard protocols, these special trains will run from one place to another at the request of the respective state governments who send and receive these stranded people. Passengers will be examined by the sending states and permission to travel will be given only to those in which no symptoms are found.
It was said that the sending state governments would have to bring these people in batches, following the rules of social distancing and other precautions, to sit in the sanitized buses till the railway station scheduled for boarding the train. It will be necessary for every person to have a face cover. The sending states will provide food and water for them at the initial station.
