Process of filing complaint in Consumer Forum

The government has given many rights to consumers. The government also issues several advertisements to make consumers aware. If you also feel that as a consumer, you have been cheated or duped while buying some product. You can lodge complaint in the Consumer Court, for a fee of just Rs 100, you can file a lawsuit with claims up to Rs 1 lakh. Here we will tell you about the process and fees of going to the Consumer Forum.
Who can complain – In case of any problem in the product or service, the consumer or any other person on their behalf can file a complaint in the Consumer Forum. Apart from Individuals, any registered organization can also file the complaint in the Consumer Forum.
Where to complain – Where to file a complaint, it is decided on the basis of the loss of the consumer.
If the loss is less than Rs 20 lakh, then it can be complained in the District Forum.
In case of loss above Rs 20 lakh and less than Rs 1 crore, a complaint has to be lodged with the State Commission.
If the loss is more than Rs 1 crore, then a complaint has to be lodged with the National Commission.
Also, after being rejected from the lower forum, a complaint can be made in the above forum.
How to complain –
The consumer can write his complaint on a plain paper and give it in the forum. The complaint should contain complete details of the case, such as where and when the incident occurred. Along with this, the consumer has to present a bill of goods and other documents in support of the complaint. It is also written in the complaint letter that how much relief do you want from the company in front.
You can also complain –
Consumer Consumer Helpline 1800-11-4000 or 14404 and you can also register a complaint by visiting the website consumerhelpline.gov.in. Apart from this, you can register your complaint by sending an SMS to another number 8130009809 of the Consumer Forum or by downloading the National Consumer Helpline i.e. NCH app and on the Umang app. Complaints can be lodged in the helpline between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm on all days except National Holiday.
How much will have to be paid? –
In the District Forum -> There is no fee for the Antyodaya Anna Yojana card holder in the Consumer Forum on claims up to Rs 1 lakh.
Apart from Antyodhan Anna Yojana card holder, a fee of Rs 100 will have to be deposited on claims up to Rs 1 lakh.
Fees for claims above Rs. 1 lakh and up to Rs. 5 lakhs. Fees for claims of more than Rs. Fee for Rs 500
State Commission-
Fees for claims above Rs 20 lakhs and up to Rs 50 lakhs,
Rs 2000 for the claims of more than Rs 50 lakhs and Rs 4000 for claims up to Rs 1 crore in the National Commission
Rs 1 crore Till the court fees of Rs 5000 have to be deposited for the claim.
