Operation to repatriate Indians begins, three naval warships dispatched
The warships NS Jalashwa and INS Magar, stationed on the Mumbai coast, left for the Maldives on Monday night.
Many countries in the world are in lockdown due to corona virus. As a result, thousands of Indians are stranded in those countries. A campaign has been launched to repatriate Indians stranded abroad. Three Indian Navy warships have been dispatched to rescue stranded civilians in the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates.
A Defense Ministry spokesman told PTI on Tuesday morning. The warships NS Jalashwa and INS Magar, stationed on the Mumbai coast, left for the Maldives on Monday night.
INS Shardul has been sent to Dubai. A Defense Ministry spokesman said the three warships would arrive in Kochi after arriving in India. INS Magar and INS Shardul are the warships of the Southern Naval Command and INS Jalashwa is the warship of the East Naval Command.
Only citizens who do not have coronary heart disease will be repatriated
Many Indians are stuck in other countries. Meanwhile, the process of repatriation will be started in stages from May 7. The Home Ministry has said that only people who do not have coronary heart disease will be repatriated. Aircraft as well as naval assistance will be used to bring them back. But the travel expenses will have to be borne by the concerned passengers. After returning to India, they will have to stay in quarantine for 14 days.
“The government will help repatriate Indians stranded abroad. They will be allowed to return to India only if required. Also, this process will be implemented in phases. They will be flown to India by air or naval vessels. The Indian embassy and high commission have been asked to compile a list of those stranded abroad. The cost of travel will be borne by the passengers, ”the home ministry said.
