Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people that in this time of scarcity of masks, you should prepare masks at home to protect yourself and take care of its cleanliness.
Looking at the current situation, it seems that the mask will have to be used not for a few days, but for years now. Therefore, like clothes, we have to make it a part of our wardrobes and we have to know the right way to use and clean it. We also need to know how long we use the mask and how to wash the mask used so that it can be disinfected.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, if you use a mask, you must wash it once a day. In addition, N95 masks should be used by hospital staff, police and those involved in emergency services. There are three special ways to disinfect masks to avoid Covid-19, which you can make your mask safe for reusing. Let’s know how you can clean your mask at home.
Special ways to wash face masks for reuse-
Wash with warm water: To disinfect the mask, wash it with soap and warm water. After washing leave it to dry in the sun for at least 5 hours. Use a pressure cooker if its not sunny weather:
Add salt to the water to wash the mask used throughout the day. Boil for about 15 minutes by adding a mask to hot water or a pressure cooker. Now leave it to dry.
You can also use hot iron to dry the mask: If the pressure cooker is not there, wash the mask with soap. You can use ironing to dry it. Do not boil disposable masks: Never boil nor clean disposable masks. There are many elements inside it, which can be spoiled by washing.
