Big decision to celebrate Ganeshotsav in Mumbai
The Greater Mumbai Public Ganeshotsav Coordinating Committee has taken an important decision
A nationwide lockdown has been announced against the backdrop of the corona. Maharashtra has the highest number of coronary heart disease patients in the country. The situation in Mumbai and Pune is also worrisome. It has been more than 40 days since the lockdown and more than 14 districts in the state are in the red zone. But now the restrictions are being relaxed and efforts are being made to restore public life. Even after Corona, people are being told to take precaution. It is being said that public life will not be as usual due to this. This is likely to affect Ganeshotsav as well.
Ganeshotsav and Maharashtra have a different relationship. Ganeshotsav is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Maharashtra. During Ganeshotsav, especially in Mumbai and Pune, large crowds can be seen on the streets. But since it is important to observe social distance to prevent corona, many are questioning whether Ganeshotsav will be celebrated or not.
Many believe that the situation will return to normal by Ganesh Chaturthi. On the other hand, the Brihanmumbai Public Ganeshotsav Coordinating Committee is also expressing confidence that Ganeshotsav will be celebrated in any case. However, this time Ganeshotsav will not be celebrated as usual but will be celebrated very simply.
Narendra Dahibawkar, Chairman, Greater Mumbai Public Ganeshotsav Coordinating Committee, has asked all circles to prepare for the celebration of Ganeshotsav. But he has also told the circles that Ganeshotsav will be celebrated very simply without any fuss like every year. “It simply came to our notice then. Even after that, people had brought Ganesha idols to their homes and simply celebrated Ganeshotsav for 11 days, ”said Narendra Dahibawkar.
“It is not appropriate to endanger the lives of people and activists as there is a large crowd during Ganeshotsav. Ganeshotsav Mandals have always worked shoulder to shoulder with the administration in times of crisis. Over the last few days, there has been a lot of stress on the police as well as the municipality. Due to this, Ganesh Mandals will continue their tradition of helping even this time. People will be appealed to be less crowded and Ganeshotsav will be celebrated simply, ”informed Narendra Dahibawkar.
Ganeshotsav sees crowds on the streets of Mumbai day and night. The idol of public Ganesh Mandals in Mumbai is a topic of discussion and curiosity. People from all over the world come to see Ganeshotsav in Mumbai. While Narendra Dahibawkar has asked the mandals to celebrate Ganeshotsav in a simple manner, on the other hand, the mandals have taken the role of wait and watch. Due to the lockdown, many Ganesh sculptors have not been able to complete their work yet. It remains to be seen whether Ganeshotsav will be celebrated now.
