The Supreme Court asked- ‘Private hospitals taking land at concessional rates from the government will treat some patients of Covid-19 for free?’
While hearing a PIL filed to fix the maximum amount of expenditure on treatment of corona virus infected patients in private hospitals of the country, the Supreme Court has summoned the reply of the Central Government in this regard.
Hearing the PIL, a bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan issued a notice in this regard to the central government and sought a reply in a week.
The court said that a copy of this PIL should be given to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who would take instructions on the issue and reply in a week.
This petition states that the government should set indicative rates for treatment of Covid-19.
It also states that there should be a timely settlement of mediclaim by insurance companies and cashless treatment should be provided to all patients who have undergone insurance.
During the hearing in this case, the Supreme Court asked the private hospitals whether they were willing to treat Kovid-19 patients on the prescribed fee under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
The Supreme Court made it clear that they are asking only those private hospitals to treat some of the patients of Kovid-19 free of cost who are given land at concessional rates.

The Supreme Court held a hearing on Friday in the case of automatic cognizance of the migrant laborers.
During the hearing, the Central Government said that so far more than one crore migrants have been transported to their ancestral place.
The central government told the court that till June 3, more than 4,200 labor trains were run to bring these workers to their ancestral place.
The Bench of the Supreme Court said that it is their intention to give 15 days time to the Center and the States to take all the migrant workers to their ancestral places.
During the hearing, Justice Ashok Bhushan said that all the states should tell what relief they can provide to the migrant workers returning to their state and how they are going to ensure their employment.
The court has asked the states to prepare one of the workers so that it can be known from where and how the workers have returned.
The Supreme Court will pronounce its decision on Tuesday, June 9, on the matter of transportation, registration and employment of migrant workers.
