Sanitizer from Mahua in Jharkhand
Preparations are being made for making sanitizer from Mahua in Jharkhand
Preparations are being made to make sanitizer from Mahua in Jharkhand. The state’s Forest and Environment Department has taken this initiative. For this, the National Botanical Research Institute of Lucknow has joined hands. With the help of the institute, a trial of making a sanitizer from the Mahua variety found in Jharkhand is going on.
If the experiment of making a sanitizer from the Mahua variety of Jharkhand is successful, it can be mass produced at a low cost. Providing it at a low price is a big challenge in the corona period. It will undergo several stages of testing before that. The green signal of the Indian Council of Medical Research will also be required in this. The Jharkhand government can also promote it as its brand and make it available to the people. On behalf of the Forest Department, its responsibility has been entrusted to Sanjiv Kumar, Regional Chief Conservator of Forests of Hazaribagh. Sanjeev Kumar has also successfully made many other Mahua products including pickles earlier.
Raw alcohol is also made from Mahua due to alcoholic ingredients. Alcoholic ingredients are the main reason behind this. For this reason, the possibility of making sanitizer from Mahua has been strengthened. Experts say that this is possible, but to devise a method is a big task. The juice of mahua has to be developed to the level of sanitizer after undergoing chemical process. It will also need to keep its costs down.
Mahua season is going on now: Mahua season is also going on in Jharkhand. It occurs from the middle of March to the end of May. During this time, people choose mahua flowers in the forests of different districts of the state. They are dried and sold to companies producing various products. The state government also earns a lot from this. People also use it in chutney, pickle or other ways in homes. Therefore, it will be a big achievement for Jharkhand when flower-proof method of making sanitizer from Mahua is ready. It can also be prepared immediately.
We are in contact with Sharad Srivastava, scientist of National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, to make sanitizer from Mahua. There is a trial phase right now. It can be scientifically certified only after having to stand the test of different tests.
