The United States, Mauritius, Seychelles and other countries have already received hydrochloroquine drug stock from India. The rest will be supplied to other countries by the end of the current week. Hydroxychloroquine is an effective drug for the treatment of corona patients, the US Food and Drug Department says. The drug was used on more than 1500 patients in New York.
The Modi government had temporarily banned the export of certain drugs, including hydroxychloroquine, to maintain adequate reserves of essential drugs in the country after the corona outbreak. Then the Trump government requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to send hydroxychloroquine drug. Trump also threatened that India would suffer the consequences if the drug was not sent to the United States. However, without getting intimidated by such threats, India reviewed all the situation and lifted the export ban on drugs in a few days. India will soon be sending hydroxychloroquine reserves to Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and other countries. It is not yet known whether Pakistan has demanded the drug from India.
