42 areas like airlines-banking, consumers can complain on the app, will be settled in 60 days

Consumer complaints will now be resolved within two months (sixty days). If it takes more time to clear a complaint, then the Ministry will give complete information about this to the consumer. The ministry has launched a mobile app to register consumer complaints. Through this app, consumers will also be informed about their rights. People can also give advice on the app. Launching the app, Union Consumer and Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that the government has introduced this additional platform for consumer complaints. With this app, the role of consumer helpline and consumer courts will continue. The government says that the normal complaints will be resolved in 15 days. Complaints of difficult type will be resolved in 60 days. He said that it will be our endeavor that disposal of complaints takes minimum time.

Consumer Affairs Secretary Avinash Srivastava said that only after receiving satisfactory response from the complainant will the complaint be resolved. Consumers will have to register on the mobile app to register complaints about 42 sectors including airlines, banking and aviation. He said that consumers can also give suggestions to the government through the app. He said that the government would take action considering the suggestions of consumers seriously.

According to the data of the Consumer Ministry, in the year 2017-18, about 4.55 lakh complaints were reported in the country. Maximum of this was 13.9 percent from Maharashtra and 13.8 percent from Uttar Pradesh.

Ram Vilas Paswan, said that the consumer app will be available in two languages Hindi and English. This app can be downloaded on Android and iOS platform. He said that through registering his consumer complaint through this app, he will be able to get information about what action has been taken on his complaint.
