Mumbai: The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) has been made compulsory for all teachers of the aided and unaided schools. The Education Department had laid the condition of passing the TET till January 1. Against this background, salaries will not be paid to teachers who have been appointed in private aided and partially aided schools after February 2 and have not passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). In the meantime, the Heads of Schools are obliged to submit a guarantee only whether the teacher has passed the TET exam. The Central Government has extended the right of free and compulsory education of children to the Act from 19 April and its implementation is in effect in the State from 1st April. Accordingly, the Central Government had declared the National Teacher Education Council (NCTE) as an educational authority for determining eligibility and conditions for the appointment of teacher posts. This authority has fixed minimum educational and vocational qualifications for elementary teachers, ie 1st to 8th grade. Accordingly, it was mandatory to pass the TET exam. In addition to this. Ed., B.Ed. This qualification is also binding. The deadline for passing the TET exam was till March 9. However, the majority of teachers failed to pass the TET exam during this period. In addition to stopping the salaries of these teachers, their orders for termination of service were issued to the schools. However, the court ordered that service should not be terminated as the case was pending in this regard. However, from February 7, it is mandatory for teachers in the service to give TET certification.

He has also directed the school principal to write a guarantee letter. If teachers’ salaries are withdrawn after April, then the principal will be responsible for all salaries starting January 1. As a result, teachers who have not passed the TET will be deprived of salary from April. With these actions being taken during lockdown, there will be hunger strike without pay for teachers. There is talk among teachers that the same order will be issued by other education officials of the state and the government is angry about the process being implemented during the lockdown.
