Saffron Ration card holders will also get food grains at discounted rated, cabinet meeting Decision
Mumbai: The state cabinet today approved giving 3 kg of wheat and 2 kg of rice per capita at a discounted rate to the holders of Keshari ration card. Saffron holders will get 8 rupees of wheat and Rs 12 per kg of rice. In this regard, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urging the concerned ministry to give necessary directions.
The beneficiaries wiil be the 3 crore 8 lakh Kesari Shikshapatra who are not covered under the National Food Security Scheme will benefit. It will cost around Rs 250 crore and will be provided for May and June. In addition to the foodgrains currently available from the Central Government, the demand for 1 lakh 54 thousand 220 metric tonnes of grain has been demanded. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray instructed the district administration to take local decision on the timing of vegetable and other essential shops. The Chief Minister said that due to the situation of lifting lockdown after April 14, the right decision will be taken at the right time. He also informed that daily breakfast, lunch and dinner are being provided to 5.50 lakh persons who are migrant workers from other states.
Ministers of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Balasaheb Thorat, Chhagan Bhujbal, Jayant Patil, Eknath Shinde, Aditya Thackeray were present at the Cabinet meeting today. Deputy ministers Ajit Pawar, ministers Subhash Desai, Dilip Walse Patil, Nawab Malik, Anil Deshmukh, Rajesh Tope, Varsha Gaikwad and others from the ministry. Jitendra Awhad, Aslam Shaikh, Anil Parab were present. Other ministers as well as state ministers from their own district participated in the meeting.
